West Corridor LRT Project

Project: West Corridor LRT Project
Client/Owner: Regional Transportation District (RTD)
Project Start Date: November 2007
Project Completion Date: October 2012

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) awarded Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc. a $63 million contract for phases one and two of the West Corridor Light Rail Transit project. This is the first of six planned extensions to RTD's existing rail system as part of the $7.9 billion, 119-mile FasTracks multi-corridor program. The West Corridor project is a 12.1-mile extension to the existing 35-mile light rail system, starting at Auraria West Station in downtown Denver and heading west to JeffCo Station in Golden. Balfour Beatty Rail's scope of work is for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the systems elements of the project, which includes the traction power, overhead catenary and signal systems. In addition, there is $9.8 million option for a central control and communications system.
