Russian River Division Track Rehabilitation

Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc. was contracted to perform the
rehabilitation of 62 track miles of wood tie track between two
California cities: Windsor and Lombard. The project included 5,900
track feet of jointed track construction, replacement of 58,000 wood
ties, and surfacing. Balfour Beatty Rail also furnished,
installed, tamped and regulated 27,324 tons of ballast; restored 400
cubic yards of washout embankments; repaired culverts and
reconstructed six timber headwalls. This operation included
repairing, lubricating and adjusting 41 turnouts and 8,200 lineal feet
of ditching. Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc. also ran a geometry car
over the track to ensure the criteria and tolerances met the contract
specifications.
