Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc. installed about 65 track miles of materials supplied
by Kansas City Southern. The material was 136# continuously welded
rail, ballast in bottom-dump rail cars and concrete ties with elastic
fasteners. Balfour Beatty Rail was also responsible for all
coordination of the transportation and unloading of materials to
various staging areas, working closely with the Texas Department of
Transportation. Using a new track construction machine, Balfour Beatty
Rail built the track, installed the ballast, raised and leveled the
track, and performed required welding and de-stressing
services.
