Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc. contracted to complete all track and signal
maintenance/repair, including surfacing of the track. The project
included assisting the agency in recommendations for capital track and
signal work, then completing any work awarded. Balfour Beatty Rail
maintained two pump stations that remove rain runoff and ground water
from the 33-foot, below-trench grade. In addition, the team maintained
communications, fiber optics systems, 47 emergency ladders and
emergency phones along the corridor. The contract also called for
right-of-way cleanup, vegetation management, scheduling of all rail and
geometry car testing, and rail grinding.
